The battle started on 1st July 1916. Colin Clifford, author of ‘The
Asquiths’, will talk about the events of 1916 and how they affected
the Asquith family, in particular the Prime Minister himself,
his powerful wife, Margot and three of their sons; the poet,
Herbert Asquith, recovering from shell shock, while his brothers
Raymond and Arthur, faced the holocaust of the Somme.
